Kerry Collins had given the ball away, fumbling a snap with 1:25 to go in a tied game.
But the Colts still had to move the ball to get in range for Adam Vinatieri to kick a game-winning field goal. In their five previous possessions, they’d managed only five first downs and they needed a couple here.
Out of the slot, White didn’t do anything too complicated. Alterraun Verner showed a bit of a blitz look and was shaded inside. White ran behind him, turned him around and bought enough space to easily haul in Manning’s pass.
White is not Austin Collie, obviously. He is a serviceable player for the Colts, able to make a key play here and there.
This one helped ensure the Colts finished 10-6 instead of 9-7, and got them the No. 3 seed in the AFC playoffs.
