The last time I chatted with Kerry Collins, before Steve McNair's memorial service, I had a chance to ask him about the best catch a teammate's ever made of one of his throws.
Here's what he said:
"Bobby Engram caught a pass from me against Ohio State my senior year [at Penn State]. I was kind of rolling left and he was kind of just standing there. He started moving with me and I threw it. I threw it behind him and he just reached out and snagged it one handed. It was one of those 'wow' moments that don't come along all that often.
"It was a hell of a catch. He was a special player, he is a special player, has been in the league. And special players make special plays."
"When I let it go, I thought, 'Not a very good throw.' You're figuring he might make a play, knock it down. You're hoping it doesn't get tipped and get picked."
Engram is currently with the Chiefs.
