Titans fans may have trouble swallowing this bit of rooting advice, but I’m offering it anyway.
There are too many things that have to fall into place for Tennessee to win the AFC South. The Titans would benefit more from a Bengals’ loss than a Texans’ loss in Cincinnati on Sunday.
The Titans best-case scenario is going to be a wild-card berth. Right now they are bunched with three others teams at 7-5. (Currently 7-5 Denver leads 7-5 Oakland on an AFC West tie-breaker. As one of them will win the division, the Titans will only need to be concerned with the other.)
Those four teams -- the Bengals, the Titans, the Jets and the Raiders -- look to be fighting for the sixth and final playoff berth.
It’s best for the Titans to get ahead of the other three. If you're rooting for Tennessee, then you'd be wise to root against the rest of the team's in contention for the sixth spot.
