Jones-Drew will eventually resurface

The season’s not over for Maurice Jones-Drew, per the latest report from Adam Schefter.

A source tells Schefter that MJD has a sprained foot. While it will keep him out of action for multiple weeks, it won’t require surgery and it won't end his season prematurely.

The Jaguars turned to Rashad Jennings Sunday in Oakland after MJD went down on the first series. Jennings got the bulk of the work in camp and the preseason during Jones-Drew’s holdout.

Jacksonville will miss its best offensive player, but needs to graduate to a place where it can rely on the passing game. Quarterback Blaine Gabbert is getting a second opinion on a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder. It’s unclear if and when he will be ready to return to action.

It’s bad news for an uninventive offense that is dead last in the league in total yards, passing yards, third-down efficiency and points.

The next step is a report on Gabbert and a timetable for MJD.
