ANDERSON, Ind. -- There was a surprise player for the Indianapolis Colts when they took the field for their night practice in front of 7,350 fans Tuesday.
Receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey was on the field in full pads.
Heyward-Bey, who is dealing with a sprained left knee, took part in position drills before becoming a spectator during team drills.
Having Heyward-Bey, who injured his knee in practice Sunday, participate in drills is a step in the right direction.
An MRI done on his left knee came back negative and coach Chuck Pagano referred to him as day-to-day earlier Tuesday.
"We didn't want him doing too much today, (Wednesday) is a day off, he'll probably get treatment three or four times and then come back and probably get a little bit more in on Thursday," Pagano said after the evening practice.
Safety LaRon Landry was held out of practice with a knee problem. Pagano said the issue isn't serious and he anticipates him back for Thursday's practice.
