Reading the coverage of the Tennessee Titans…
The Titans are loaded at receiver, but Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean believes Michael Preston has earned a roster spot. Offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains said Preston could start for some teams in the league.
To which I say: I agree. Preston is one of the team’s best 53 players, but he’s also sixth among receivers. A sixth receiver probably isn’t active on Sundays, which complicates the decision for the Titans.
Loggains wants receiver/returner Marc Mariani on the roster, but a shoulder injury that has been keeping him out of action will have a bearing on what Tennessee does, says John Glennon of The Tennessean
More knee soreness means receiver Kenny Britt will sit out the preseason finale, says Wyatt.
To which I say: We can’t make a big deal out of anyone sitting out the fourth preseason game. But this is at least the second time during camp and the preseason that Britt has dealt with knee soreness. Is it always going to crop up?
The preseason has offered evidence that the Titans should reduce their runs for no gain or a loss, says David Boclair of the Nashville Post.
The Titans spent big because they are determined to turn things around and get back to the playoffs, says Teresa Walker of the Associated Press. She’s also got five things to watch.
