RTC: From front office to media for Polian

Here's today's Reading the Coverage:

  • Mike Chappell of The Indianapolis Star talked to linebacker Caesar Rayford on making the team. Rayford is a feel-good story because of the road he’s taken to get to the NFL: the Canadian and Arena leagues. He didn't get invited to an NFL training camp until he was 27 years old. Now he’s on an NFL roster.

  • Phil Richards, also of The Star, caught up with ESPN colleague Bill Polian and talked to him about his transition from general manager to analyst. I never covered Polian, but many in the media say he was difficult to deal with because he wasn’t a fan of the media. Now he’s part of the group.

  • Conrad Brunner of 1070 The Fan put a wrap on the preseason by saying the starting unit is solid but there are questions about the depth of the team. Depth of receiver is a concern because the Colts kept six, but one of them -- LaVon Brazill --is suspended the first four games of the season. And a second one, David Reed, suffered a concussion against Cincinnati in the preseason finale.

  • Kevin Bowen from Colts.com gives his reaction to the 53-man roster.
