Reading the coverage of the Houston Texans...
ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. said during a conference call that the Texans shouldn't take a quarterback with the first overall pick, should they get it, they should take UCLA linebacker Anthony Barr or South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, writes Randy Harvey of the Houston Chronicle. He listed Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater as the only sure top-10 pick.
Case Keenum will be under evaluation for the rest of the season, writes Deepi Sidhu of HoustonTexans.com. Keenum will be the starter as the Texans finish the season. Interim head coach Wade Phillips thinks he needs to go through "rough times" to get better. I think he's right.
Howard Chen of CSNHouston.com writes that J.J. Watt visited a local high school for a pep rally on Tuesday. A student's grandmother won Watt's contest and gave the pep rally to her granddaughter, who attends Manvel High School. Read the story and see a picture of a high school kid who is bigger than Watt.
This isn't exactly Texans-related, but I recommend it nonetheless. With the Heisman finalists announced, Sean Pendergast of the Houston Press takes a look at which players were given the best preseason betting odds to win the Heisman and how they fared.
