RTC: Johnny Manziel as Broadway Joe?

Reading the coverage of the Houston Texans...

Johnny Manziel won't be a college quarterback for much longer. Jerome Solomon of the Houston Chronicle says the Texans should get the Texas A&M quaterback by any means necessary. From the column: "On occasion, the right person falls in line with the right team. If that team makes the smart call, its fortune changes for the better. This is such a case. Think Broadway Joe Namath and the New York Jets."

With the Texans set to have the first or second pick in the 2014 draft, Texans fans can keep an eye on five bowl games which should feature the players to watch for the draft, writes John McClain of the Chronicle. "Games to watch: Louisville vs. Miami (Russell Athletic Bowl) on Saturday, UCLA vs. Virginia Tech (Hyundai Sun Bowl) on Tuesday, Texas A&M vs. Duke (Chick-fil-A Bowl) on Tuesday, South Carolina vs. Wisconsin (Capital One Bowl) on Wednesday and Central Florida vs. Baylor (Tostitos Fiesta Bowl) on Wednesday."

Sean Pendergast of The Houston Press recounts newsmakers who gave him a lot to write about this season. His take on the Texans' relationship with safety Ed Reed is that it seemed like a one-way affair. Reed was No. 10, while Jacoby Jones was No. 9.

Pro Football Focus makes 32 observations, one for each team, on receiving stats. The Texans' observation is that Ben Tate is the only Texans player with at least 20 catches this season to not have a single catch longer than 10 yards. Titans running back Chris Johnson has run 53 routes, eighth-most among running backs, but has only one catch for 5 yards.
