Todd McShay’s initial mockery requires an Insider account to see top-to-bottom, but I’ve been granted special clearance to reveal his AFC South picks.
So, if the draft took place right now…
14th, Texans: Earl Thomas, safety, Texans.
PK says: I like it. Running back and cornerback may rank as bigger needs, but the Texans have to address safety. They need an upgrade to go with Bernard Pollard, a player they have to lock up.
15th, Titans: Jason Pierre-Paul, defensive end, South Florida.
PK says: I haven’t seen him play. But the Titans love quality rushers, Kyle Vanden Bosch’s future is uncertain and Pierre-Paul could be a nice young piece to go with William Hayes and Jacob Ford. Cornerback will probably rank as a bigger need.
18th, Jaguars: Bruce Carter, outside linebacker, North Carolina.
PK says: If this is the best player scenario, the Jaguars need to trade out. Linebacker is probably the one position where they have the fewest questions. They need a quarterback, defensive linemen, interior offensive linemen and secondary help far more than Carter.
31st, Colts: Jared Odrick, DT, Penn State.
PK says: Depending on how free agency goes, the Colts may not be in dire need anywhere, but they don’t draft early based on need anyway. Still, Bill Polian believes top interior defensive linemen are gone by late in the first round and don’t resurface for a while. And he took one, Fili Moala, in the second round just last year.
