Rapid Reaction: Ravens 34, Texans 28 (OT)

Houston -- Thoughts on the Ravens’ overtime win over the Texans at Reliant Stadium.

What it means: The Texans fell to 5-8 and the best they can get to is 8-8. They won’t improve on last season’s 9-7 and can be eliminated as an AFC South contender next week.

What I didn’t like: Matt Schaub was hardly at his best for the early part of the game, but he didn’t get a lot of help as Jacoby Jones dropped a touchdown pass and Owen Daniels had multiple drops, including one that bounced off him for an interception. The Texans fell behind 21-0 to a team that can struggle offensively and couldn’t dig out. And Schaub shrank back and made a terrible throw out of his end zone that was picked by Josh Wilson and returned for a 12-yard touchdown that won it for Baltimore.

What I liked: Andre Johnson getting behind Ed Reed and Schaub, on the move, delivering the throw for a 46-yard touchdown. The 15-play, 99-yard touchdown march that ended with 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter that pulled the Texans to within 28-20. The 12-play, 95-yard touchdown drive and 2-point conversion that tied it with 21 second left.

What I want to know: How many guys on the Texans’ kick coverage team got a hand on David Reed during his 103-yard kickoff return for a touchdown that put Baltimore up 28-7?

Injury of note: Right guard Mike Brisiel left the game in the third quarter with a right calf strain and didn’t return. Antoine Caldwell replaced him.

What’s next: Houston travels to Nashville to face the Titans at LP Field. The Texans had their best defensive game of the season with 20-0 win over Tennessee and rookie quarterback Rusty Smith on Nov. 28, but can expect to see Kerry Collins this time.
