Jacksonville was awarded cornerback Tyron Brackenridge off waivers, the team announced. He was let go by the Jets.
He originally caught on as an undrafted rookie with Kansas City in 2007 and played in 14 games over the past two years with the Chiefs. The Jets signed him on Feb. 19 and waived him Wednesday.
He played collegiately at Washington State.
The Jaguars are looking to bolster their depth in the secondary, where Rashean Mathis is locked in as one starting cornerback. Brian Williams could play opposite Mathis or could play at safety with Reggie Nelson depending on the team's other options.
The Jaguars also waived receiver D'Juan Woods, who was signed as a rookie free agent out of Oklahoma State in 2007 and spent parts of the past two seasons on the club's practice squad. He played against Buffalo in Week 2 last season.
