Mocking with Kiper and McShay

ESPN’s Mel Kiper and Todd McShay have a combined NFL mock draft on as part of ESPN’s Insider page.

Let’s look at who they picked for each team in the AFC West:

Kansas City, No. 5

Kiper: Eric Berry, S, Tennessee

McShay: Berry

My thoughts: If the Rams take a quarterback No. 1, Berry will likely fall to Kansas City. This would be a great deal for the Chiefs.

Oakland, No. 8

Kiper: Bruce Campbell, LT, Maryland

McShay: Campbell

My thoughts: I understand the thinking here. Campbell fills a need; he was a combine star and he’s raw. Bingo. Perfect Raider pick.

Denver, No. 11

Kiper: Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State

McShay: Bryant

My thoughts: I see it if Brandon Marshall is traded. I could also see Denver talking Alabama linebacker Rolando McClain.

San Diego, No. 28

Kiper: Terrence Cody, DT, Alabama

McShay: Ryan Mathews, RB, Fresno State.

My thoughts: I’m leaning with Kiper right now. The running back class is deep and the Chargers could get someone in the second round. But this is a fluid situation.
