Chargers sign backup CB

The Chargers jumped into the free-agency buying market with a modest move Friday.

San Diego bolstered their cornerback group by signing New York Jets free agent Donald Strickland. Strickland improves San Diego’s cornerback position after the trade of Antonio Cromartie to the Jets.

Strickland will vie to be either San Diego’s third or fourth cornerback. He has played for four teams in his NFL career. He has two career interceptions. Both came in his rookie year in Indianapolis in 2003.
