The idea of Ben Roethlisberger wearing the Silver and Black is officially a possibility.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting the Steelers have begun contacting teams to see if they would be willing to trade a top 10 pick for Roethlisberger. The Raiders have the No. 8 pick in the first round Thursday night.
Schefter reports the Steelers have called the Rams, 49ers, Raiders, Bills, Jaguars, Seahawks and Browns about Roethlisberger. Schefter reports the Rams and Bills are known not to be interested.
The Raiders have been looking for a quarterback all offseason. Of course, acquiring the two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback means enduring a six-game suspension at the start of the 2010. Still, giving up the No. 8 overall pick for a 28-year-old franchise quarterback is a steal. I thought so last week and I still feel the same way -- the Raiders have to find a way to make this happen.
Wednesday, we found out it’s a possibility and the Raiders have been formally informed. Now, it’s their call.
UPDATE: NFL.com believes Oakland may be the only option for Roethlisberger.
