Raiders and Broncos sign veterans

On the day Oakland cut colossal bust JaMarcus Russell, the Raiders and Broncos added to their rosters.

Oakland signed veteran running back Michael Bennett and Denver signed guard Maurice Williams.

Bennett tried out in Oakland during its minicamp last week and he last played with the San Diego Chargers. Bennett is still fast but he will need a good camp to make the 53-man roster.

Williams should be in the starting mix at guard. He has started 100 games in the NFL. At the very least, he will provide decent depth for Denver as it transitions from a zone-blocking attack to a more traditional power-blocking scheme.
