There is a report that says the foot injury suffered by Denver first-round pick Demaryius Thomas was an aggravation of his pre-draft injury. The injury, at this point, isn’t expected to be overly serious; however it has to be worrisome for Denver that Thomas is still dealing with the original injury.
Thomas was one of the stars of Denver’s scrimmage, along with quarterbacks Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow, before his injury. Fellow rookie Eric Decker also suffered for an undisclosed foot or ankle injury during the scrimmage. Like Thomas, Decker is coming off a major foot injury. Denver, which has been decimated by injuries this training camp, canceled practice Sunday. The team doesn’t practice until Tuesday afternoon.
At this point, don’t expect Colt Brennan to be an option in Oakland other than just early in training camp. Fellow quarterback Bruce Gradkowski and Charlie Frye are both dealing with minor injuries. Brennan reunites with former Washington teammate Jason Campbell for his Oakland stay.
Kansas City safety Eric Berry was a star of Kansas City’s scrimmage. I hear Berry, who was the No. 5 overall pick, is making people in the Chiefs’ organization jump for joy. He was been outstanding this summer.
San Diego kicker Nate Kaeding had to deal with some boos during the team’s Fan Fest Saturday. My reaction: Yes, Kaeding’s missed field goals played a huge role in the Chargers’ playoff loss to the Jets in January. However, he’s a good kicker who needs to move on. Booing him seven months later doesn’t help the situation.
Oakland is toying with the idea of occasionally using stout rookie defensive lineman Lamarr Houston at fullback. The Raiders are going to get their money’s worth out of this talented player.
Here is a chance for San Diego fans to help a cause that is very close to the hearts of many in the organization.
