The Denver Post is reporting that Broncos rookie quarterback Tim Tebow did not practice Wednesday afternoon because of a rib injury he suffered Sunday at Cincinnati. Tebow, who took some big hits in the game, did practice Tuesday with a protective vest. The newspaper said the injury is believed to be minor.
It will be interesting to see if Denver feels Tebow is healthy enough to play Saturday against Detroit, in the most anticipated home preseason game in Denver in years. The Broncos will be careful with the first-round pick, but they also want him to get game action.
The San Diego Union Tribune is reporting that holdout left tackle Marcus McNeill met with Chargers general manager A.J. Smith on Wednesday in San Diego. However, the newspaper reported that no notable progress was made and that McNeill requested the meeting to get a clear feel of the situation. While no progress was made, I still think this could be kickstart progress. It means McNeill has interest in returning. If not, he wouldn’t bother with having a face-to-face with Smith. Still, the bottom line is there is a long way to go before this situation ends. But, at least, there was contact. Pro Bowl receiver Vincent Jackson is also holding out.
