PITTSBURGH -- As expected, the Chargers will have to play Sunday's game without star running back LaDainian Tomlinson.
He is among the inactive players for San Diego.
Tomlinson was listed as doubtful to play in the game. He didn't practice all week because of a groin injury. Tomlinson didn't play in the second half of the Chargers' win over Pittsburgh in the wild-card round. Darren Sproles will start in Tomlinson's place.
There have been snow flurries on and off Sunday afternoon, and the bad weather could affect Sproles, who relies on his quickness and ability to cut.
Meanwhile, San Diego tight end Antonio Gates is active and he will start. He has been dealing with a high and low ankle sprain on his right foot for the past two weeks and hasn't been practicing. He played against the Colts and he had a game-high eight catches.
