A look at a player who gave his team a significant boost in Week 5:
Quarterback Jason Campbell deserves major kudos for his work in Oakland's 35-27 upset win over San Diego.
The Raiders brought in Campbell to help them compete against the division's gold standard in the Chargers and perhaps end that pesky 13-game stranglehold San Diego had on Oakland. Mission accomplished, but just not in the way the Raiders had planned.
In an act of sweet redemption, Campbell came off the bench to replace Bruce Gradkowski and led Oakland over the Chargers. Campbell was 13-of-18 for 159 yards and one touchdown. He led the Raiders on two long touchdowns drives in the fourth quarter, converting three big third-down plays.
Campbell gave Oakland the same type of boost that Gradkowski gave the team in Week 2 when he replaced Campbell in a win over the Rams. Campbell replaced Gradkowski on Sunday after the starter injured his shoulder. Different reasons, same result for Oakland.
