The San Diego Chargers have been quiet in free agency so far, but that may be changing.
The team is visiting with free agent safety Jermaine Phillips. The Chargers have been looking to upgrade the safety position and signing the talented Phillips would accomplish that. Many around the league think Phillips is one of the NFL's more underrated safeties.
Also, the team may sign Drayton Florence, who went to Jacksonville from San Diego last year. He was recently cut by the Jaguars. The San Diego Union-Tribune has reported that if Florence is signed, the team could trade cornerback Antonio Cromartie, whose production slipped in 2008. The word around the league is that Cromartie could fetch a third-round pick.
Meanwhile, talks continue on a restructured contract for LaDainian Tomlinson. So, after a slow start to the new league year, things may be heating up in San Diego.
