ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the Raiders are planning to start Bruce Gradkowski on Sunday against Miami. That would mean the Oakland merry-go-round will continue. Grakdkowski spelled Jason Campbell in a 35-3 loss at Pittsburgh last week. Both quarterbacks were not good.
Still, after the game, coach Tom Cable said Campbell would remain the starter. Gradkowski replaced Campbell in Week 2, but Campbell won three straight games when Gradkowski was out with a shoulder injury.
Now that Campbell is struggling again, I have no problem with Gradkowski starting.
But the truth is, Oakland, 5-5 needs better quarterback play or it won’t be a playoff team. So Gradkowski has to step it up if he does start Sunday. I wouldn’t be surprised if this quarterback dance continues all season and if the Raiders look for a new quarterback in 2011.

Buffalo clearly made a bad decision claiming Shawne Merriman off of waivers last month. Merriman was put on the injured reserve. He is a free agent after the season. The former San Diego star linebacker was waived by the Chargers because he couldn’t stay healthy. After leading the NFL with 39.5 sacks in his first three NFL seasons, Merriman has been riddled by injuries since 2008.
