INDIANAPOLIS -- San Diego wide receiver Vincent Jackson suffered a calf injury, apparently onone of the first two plays of the game, and he will not return. There is no further information.
Jackson’s return Sunday night was highly anticipated. He held out for seven games and spent three games on a roster-exemption list. Jackson started but left the game early.
Jackson has been practicing with the team for four months and looked good in practice. The team was impressed by how well Jackson stayed in shape when he returned to the team. The only reason Jackson ended his holdout was to accrue a season so he can become a free agent in 2011. The Chargers are not expected to re-sign Jackson.
Still, the Chargers were looking forward to Jackson’s return. The team’s receiving crew has been riddled by injury all season. Now, Jackson is another receiver who’ll be spending time in San Diego’s training room.
