Moving on: Denver Broncos

Here are some areas the Denver Broncos need to focus on after a 36-33 loss to the St. Louis Rams:

Recap: This was a bad weekend for Denver. On Saturday, the Broncos and coach Josh McDaniels were fined a combined $100,000 after the NFL determined that the team’s video director, Steve Scarnecchia, filmed a San Francisco walk-through practice the day before the 49ers’ win over the Broncos on Oct. 31 in London. Scarnecchia was fired. Sunday, the Broncos completed the lost weekend with a defeat to the Rams as McDaniels’ team fell to 3-8 amid heavy speculation that his two-season Denver era could be come to an end soon.

Biggest area to fix: scoring defense. Denver has given up a total of 100 points in the past three games. It will face the Chiefs on Sunday. Kansas City has scored 102 points in the past three games. Denver better tighten up now.

Biggest area to build on: fourth-quarter play. Denver showed life in the fourth quarter against St. Louis. The Broncos outscored the Rams 20-3 in the final quarter. It wasn’t enough, but it gives Denver confidence moving forward.

What to watch for: McDaniels is moving on from Spygate to Handshakegate. The Broncos will visit Kansas City on Sunday. Three weeks ago, after Denver stunned the Chiefs 49-29, Kansas City coach Todd Haley refused to shake McDaniels’ hand. Haley apologized for the snub the next day. Still, it will be a storyline this week.
