The validation of Matt Cassel continues.
The league announced that Cassel has been named the AFC’s offensive player of the month. This is a big deal and it’s well deserved.
Cassel completed 90 of 144 passes (62.5 percent) for 1,111 yards with 12 touchdowns and one interception in November. His touchdown total led the NFL for the month. His passer rating has been over 100 for the past three games.
Cassel is having a fine season overall. He has thrown 22 touchdown passes with just four interceptions. Cassel has taken a lot of heat from some fans since he was brought over in a trade prior to last season. He is making steady improvement and this honor is proof of his capabilities.
Cassel is the second Kansas City quarterback to win the honor. Steve DeBerg won it 20 years ago.
