Maclin improves draft stock

The Michael Crabtree-Jeremy Maclin debate will burn until draft day, particularly in Oakland.

Maclin did his part to keep the debate hot by performing well at Missouri's pro day. He ran a very strong 4.43 in the 40-yard dash and showed tremendous skills. Maclin is expected to be a top-10 pick and he did nothing to hurt his draft stock with his workout.

Crabtree, of course, is also expected to be a top-10 pick. Some teams prefer Crabtree and other prefer Maclin. Crabtree may have bigger play potential in the NFL but Maclin is considered to more steady and polished.

The Raiders are studying both players. Oakland needs a receiver and left tackle and it could be leaning toward taking a receiver. Several mock drafts have the Raiders taking either Crabtree or Maclin.

Maclin's strong pro day was surely duly noted by the Raiders. There is, of course, no guarantee the Raiders will have their choice of Crabtree or Maclin if they do decide on taking a receiver.

Kansas City (which drafts No. 3), Seattle (No. 4), and Cincinnati (No. 6) could all take a receiver, especially with Maclin performing so well.

This is going to be a fun story to monitor in the next five weeks.
