Meet Eric Studesville

New gig: Eric Studesville is Denver’s interim head coach for the rest of the season. He replaces Josh McDaniels who was fired Monday after starting the season 3-9. Studesville is the first interim head coach in Pat Bowlen’s 27 years as Denver’s owner. He is the first African-American head coach in Broncos’ history.

Previous job: He was in his first season as Denver’s running backs coach. Denver’s run offense is ranked 29th in the NFL. It was ranked last for much of the season.

Age: 43

Coaching history: He has previously coached for the Bears, Giants and the Bills.

Playing history: Studesville was a defensive back at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Known for He is an energetic coach who is a people person and who is well respected by his players.

Chances of becoming permanent head coach: Slim. Studesville would have to likely go 4-0 in convincing fashion to even have a chance to keep the job. Still, he will likely get an interview after the season and this is good opportunity for a young coach.
