Mel Kiper has presented his latest mock NFL draft.
Let’s take a look at his AFC West choices:
No. 2, Denver
Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn
My thoughts: Fairley is definitely going to be in the mix in Denver. Alabama defensive tackle Marcell Dareus and Clemson defensive end Da’Quan Bowers are going to be at the top of Denver’s list as well. Here's how Fairley could become Denver’s pick, assuming Denver has its choice of the top defensive linemen: Denver chooses to take a defensive tackle over an end and it likes Fairley more than Dareus.
No. 18, San Diego
Cameron Jordan, DE, California
My thoughts: I like it a lot. I think San Diego would be thrilled to get Jordan. He’d be a steal at No. 18. San Diego has to hope he doesn’t go to Jacksonville at No. 16 or New England at No. 17. This would be a great fit. Jordan has the whole package and would be an instant impact player for the Chargers.
No. 21, Kansas City
Akeem Ayers, LB, UCLA
My thoughts: I wouldn’t be surprised. Ayers didn’t have a great combine and he dropped some, so perhaps Kansas City could trade down a few spots and still grab him. But Ayers is just the type of player Kansas City is looking for. He’d give this defense a pass-rushing jolt. I like the match.
Oakland traded the No. 17 pick to New England for defensive lineman Richard Seymour in 2009. The Raiders' first pick is No. 48 overall.
