The Chargers signed their first 2009 draft pick by inking cornerback Brandon Hughes. Hughes played at Oregon State and is hoping to fill a backup role on defense and to play on special teams as a rookie.

Meanwhile, San Diego axed undrafted rookies. They cut offensive tackle Sam Allen, cornerback Ramarcus Brown, receiver Jeremy Childs and linebacker Anthony Felder.

Unhappy Denver receiver Brandon Marshall was scheduled to return home to Orlando on Friday night after hosting a youth area.

Larry Johnson's relationship with Kansas City continues to mend. He gave 30 pairs of football shoes to an area Boys and Girls Club. Johnson has changed his stance from last year when he wanted to leave Kansas City. He has changed his mind.
