Chiefs and Toomer are a done deal

When I departed San Diego on Tuesday morning, the word was still that the Kansas City Chiefs were getting close to signing veteran receiver Amani Toomer.

Upon the conclusion of my trip, the word was that Toomer has signed with the Chiefs. The Chiefs selected the former New York Giants receiver after working out three veterans Monday.

Toomer will be 35 next month. I know a lot of people think that he is way past his prime. But I stand my analysis of this pairing. Toomer will bring leadership to the offense and I think he still has a few key catches in him. This is a decent, low-risk move by the Chiefs.
