While anything can happen in the next day, I’m getting the feeling Kansas City is leaning toward keeping four quarterbacks when they make their 53-man roster Saturday.
The reason for the extra quarterback is the MCL sprain suffered by Cassel last week against Seattle. Cassel is going to try to practice next week and play Sept. 13 at Baltimore. But there is no guarantee he will be able to play, so the Chiefs may need the extra quarterback. When Cassel is completely healthy, the Chiefs will probably trim a quarterback from the roster.
If Cassel can’t play, I wouldn’t be surprised if Croyle starts against the Ravens. Croyle has done well in coach Todd Haley’s system and the started the preseason finale against St. Louis.
