Report: Aaron Curry instant Raider starter

It is being reported that Oakland will start Aaron Curry on Sunday at weakside linebacker against visiting Cleveland.

He’ll replace Quentin Groves.

Wow, the Raiders must really think Curry is the answer. Curry first practiced with the Raiders on Friday after he was acquired this week from Seattle. Curry was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2009 draft. But struggled in Seattle, where he played strongside linebacker.

Thus, this will be a major switch for Curry, but the Raiders are desperate for a defensive impact. Oakland has been giving up way too many big plays.

Groves could potentially play strongside if starter Kamerion Wimbley plays defensive end. Matt Shaughnessy looks like he may miss another game.

Meanwhile, in a nice tribute to Al Davis, his alma mater, Syracuse is reportedly going to wear the same “AL” sticker on their helmets that the Raiders are. Nice touch.
