Kansas City Chiefs: Moving On

Here are some areas the Kansas City Chiefs need to focus on after a 16-13 home overtime loss to Oakland on Saturday:

Recap: The Chiefs fought hard and came back to tie the game in the final moments, only to lose on the opening drive of overtime. The Chiefs are 6-9 and have been eliminated from the playoff picture. Still, they played hard for interim coach Romeo Crennel. He did nothing in the loss to hurt his chances of getting the job permanently.

Biggest area to fix: Red-zone offense. Kansas City was 1-for-4 inside Oakland’s 20-yard line. Kansas City is 2-for-9 in the red zone in Kyle Orton’s two starts.

Biggest area to build on: The Kansas City defense played very well for the second consecutive game. This unit is playing at a very high level.

What to watch for: Even though the Chiefs are out of the playoff picture, expect them to be motivated to win at Denver. The Chiefs will want to knock out the Broncos from playoff contention and help Crennel get the full-time gig. And, of course, Orton would love to beat his former team.
