Around the AFC West

Eddie Royal‘s production is down.

My take: Royal has only five catches in two games. He had 91 catches last season. The team needs an offensive spark if it is going to be a player in the AFC this year. The Broncos need to find a way to get Royal the ball.

Kansas City

Derrick Johnson says he won’t play this week.

My take: The Chiefs will miss Johnson at Philadelphia. He has played well thus far and he is one of Kansas City’s better defensive players.

Raiders assistant coach Ted Tollner puts JaMarcus Russell’s troubles on him.

My take: Tollner is right. Russell has struggled for three seasons. He needs to find a way to get better or his career will be short lived.

San Diego

The Chargers are trying to tighten their run defense.

My take: That could be difficult against Miami and its Wildcat run attack. San Diego is adjusting to life without run-stopper supreme Jamal Williams and it won’t be easy this week.
