Could Kansas City be interested in Sheppard?

After reading this item about Philadelphia potentially trading cornerback Lito Sheppard in Matt Mosley's NFC East blog, I wondered if Kansas City would get in the mix?

The Chiefs have shown interest in adding a cornerback this week via a trade. Domonique Foxworth said Tuesday the Chiefs were trying to acquire him Monday night before he was dealt from Denver to Atlanta early Tuesday morning.

Assuming the Chiefs would go after Sheppard solely because they tried to trade for Foxworth would be a mistake. However, it is safe it assume the Chiefs are interested in boosting their cornerback crew. The Chiefs' cornerback position now consists of rookies Brandon Flowers and Brandon Carr and veteran Patrick Surtain.

Would Sheppard fit in Kansas City? Sure, he would probably play a key role. At 27, Sheppard would fit the Chiefs 'profile for their rebuilding process. The team does not want to add players over the age of 29.

Yes, Sheppard would make sense for the Chiefs who clearly are interested in cornerbacks. Will Kansas City pursue Sheppard? That's a different story and according to Sheppard's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, we may find out the answer soon.
