Former Oakland coach (and current Cincinnati assistant) Hue Jackson traded the Raiders’ 2012 first-round pick (the Bengals took cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick with the No. 17 pick) and the Raiders’ second-round pick in 2013 for Palmer. They made the move last October after starter Jason Campbell was lost for the season with a broken collarbone.
The Raiders were 4-2 at the time of the trade and it was made with a serious playoff push in mind. However, Oakland finished 8-8 and the Raiders are 7-13 since the trade.
Palmer has put up some big numbers this season, but he hasn’t made the impact that they hoped. Still, Oakland could do a lot worse than Palmer.
