We are getting our answer about how the Oakland Raiders’ coaching staff feels about Terrelle Pryor.
Oakland starting quarterback Carson Palmer went out in the first half with a rib injury and he will not return to the game against Carolina.
Yet, instead of taking a look at the raw Pryor, whom the Raiders took in the third round of the supplemental draft in 2011 -- the Raiders went with backup Matt Leinart.
Like he did last week, Pryor made a cameo appearance Sunday as a wrinkle.
But he isn’t getting any playing time with the base offense. Oakland is 4-10 and Palmer will turn 33 Thursday. You’d think the team would take this opportunity to see what Pryor can do.
But the team has hinted that Pryor has not shown enough fundamental consistency in practice to play on a regular basis. Sunday’s decision to go with Leinart indicates that Oakland simply doesn’t trust Pryor yet.
