Mailbag: Where Demaryius Thomas stands

Midweek mail call:

Brian W. from Portland wants to know if Denver may consider trading Brock Osweiler in the offseason.

Bill Williamson: I can see why you ask. There are a lot of teams that need a quarterback and there aren’t too many options in free agency or the draft. But I don’t see Osweiler going anywhere. Denver likes him and they have plans for him in the future. Unless some team believes Osweiler is the answer and it overwhelmed Denver with an offer it couldn’t refuse (I doubt it will happen), I see Osweiler staying put.

Louie from San Diego wants to knowif I think Oakland can take Notre Dame middle linebacker Manti Te’o with the No. 3 overall pick.

BW: I think Oakland likes him, but right now -- and there is a long way to go before the April draft -- I think Oakland will look for one of the top pass-rushers. Te’o may have hurt his stock with a poor performance against Alabama in the BCS title game. I think Te’o is still a top pick, but I’m not sure he’ll go No. 3.

JB from Brush, Colo., wants to know if I think Denver receiver Demaryius Thomasis a top-five receiver.

BW: I think he may be on his way, but I don’t think he is there yet. He made great strides in 2012 in his third NFL season. I think he may be in the top 10. He is a rising talent.
