Dennis Allen talks about his QBs

INDIANAPOLIS -- Oakland Raiders coach Dennis Allen once again said there will be competition at the quarterback position in 2013 between Carson Palmer and Terrelle Pryor.

But Friday, Allen made it clear that Pryor will have to unseat the returning starter.

“Carson goes into the offseason as the starter, certainly,” Allen said Friday from the NFL combine. “But we will see what happens.”

Palmer is on the books for more than $13 million in salary cap space. Oakland has salary cap issues so expect Palmer to restructure his contract down.

Pryor impressed the team when he started in Week 17 for an injured Palmer. I think that game gave the team hope that Pryor can develop.

The 33-year-old Palmer will remain the starter in Oakland, but an in-season change could always happen if things start going bad.
