Huge day in Kansas City

Chiefs Reach Deal With Bowe (3:19)

The Kansas City Chiefs reached an agreement Monday on long-term contracts for receiver Dwayne Bowe and punter Dustin Colquitt, allowing K.C. to use the franchise tag on left tackle Branden Albert. (3:19)

The Kansas City Chiefs had three major free agents and in a whirlwind of activity, they secured them all Monday afternoon.

The new Kansas City regime ended a long stalemate with receiver Dwayne Bowe by giving him a five-year extension and they also extended the contract of Pro Bowl punter Dustin Colquitt, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Just as importantly, the Chiefs placed the franchise tag on left tackle Branden Albert.

Last week, the Chiefs agreed to a trade for San Francisco quarterback Alex Smith. Kansas City's new leaders, including coach Andy Reid and general manager John Dorsey, seem determined to improve the 2-14 team and so far, they are off to a solid start. We will be back with more thoughts on the Chiefs’ huge day soon.
