AFC West hot seat

We’re putting Oakland coach Tom Cable on the hot seat this week.

He goes on the hot seat for his quick decision to say quarterback JaMarcus Russell will start Sunday at San Diego. Cable made the decision minutes after the Raiders lost, 38-0, to the Jets. Russell was benched in the second quarter Sunday after committing three turnovers. Backup Bruce Gradkowski finished the game.

If Russell continues to struggle, Cable will be asked why he made the decision to reinstate Russell as the starter so soon.

This is a tough spot for everyone, and Cable will have to deal with it.
