Shortly before the draft, we ran a poll asking fans if they would be comfortable if their favorite team drafted Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o. Fifty three percent of votes said "no," while 47 percent voted "yes."
The trepidation came from a combination of Te’o playing poorly in the national title game against Alabama, a bizarre hoax involving a fake dead girlfriend, and a slow 40-time at the NFL combine.
The San Diego Chargers took Te’o in the second round with the No. 38 pick. The Chargers sent the No. 45 pick and its fourth-round choice to move up and take a player who was widely considered a top-10 pick four months ago. Te’o is expected to start as a rookie for San Diego.
In hindsight, do you think the Chargers made the smart pick by taking a falling Te’o in the second round? Please take our poll and express your thoughts in the comment section below. We will review the poll results Wednesday.
