Dan Koppen to the rescue in Denver again

Well, this makes sense.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Broncos are going to sign center Dan Koppen to a one-year deal. It was reported that J.D. Walton will miss at least half the season because of complications of an ankle injury that ended his season last September. Koppen, who was signed for one year early during the 2012 season, took over and started the rest of the season.

Manny Ramirez has been working with the first team in the offseason. Koppen tailed off toward the end of last season, but he is experienced and he and Peyton Manning had good chemistry.

Ramirez and Koppen will likely compete to start while Walton continues to rehabilitate. Once again, Koppen could prove to be valuable insurance.
