ESPN has released its nominees for the annual ESPY awards.
There is an AFC West presence on the list.
Denver quarterback Peyton Manning is a nominee for NFL player of the year and the overall best comeback. Manning was the NFL's comeback player of the year last season, when he turned in a brilliant season in Denver following four neck surgeries that kept him out of the 2011 season with Indianapolis.
The Broncos’ 38-35 double-overtime loss to the eventual Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens is a nominee for the sports game of the year. I can see that game, played in frigid weather, having a serious chance to win the award. I can’t remember being at a more epic event.
Meanwhile, Ray Rice's famous fourth-and-29 conversion at San Diego in November is a nominee for the sports play of the year. It set up the tying score in a game the Ravens went on to win in overtime. That play has a shot. I was fortunate to witness that game live, too. I remember looking around the press box to make sure what I saw really happened.
Sounds like ESPY material to me.
