A weekly examination of the Chargers’ ESPN.com Power Ranking:
Preseason ranking: 23 | Last Week: 20 | ESPN.com Power Ranking since 2002
The San Diego Chargers jumped five spots to No. 15 in this week’s Power Rankings after a decisive home win against one of the better teams in the NFL, the Indianapolis Colts. The top two teams in the Power Rankings reside in the AFC West in unbeaten Denver and Kansas City. But the Chargers (3-3) still can make up ground on both, with two games each remaining with the Broncos and the Chiefs in the second half of the season.
The Chargers are looking to stop their up-and-down play through the first six weeks of the season, and earn the team’s first two-game winning streak of 2013 when they travel to Jacksonville to take on the winless Jaguars on Sunday.
The Jaguars have something to play for, too -- new coach Gus Bradley’s first victory as a coach in the NFL. And Jacksonville didn’t exactly roll over for the Broncos last week. The Jaguars forced Peyton Manning into three turnovers and played the Broncos closer than expected, eventually falling to Denver 35-19.
