Three keys for San Diego at Dallas

The 9-3 Chargers have a huge test at Dallas on Sunday. Let’s look at three keys for San Diego in the game.

Start fast: The Chargers need to get into the heads of the Cowboys and their fans. All the Cowboys have heard this week is about their recent struggles in December. If the Chargers, who have won 15 straight games in December and are on a current seven-game winning streak, can jump out to an early lead, it could adversely affect Dallas mentally. The Chargers need to make the Cowboys start thinking of their history of trouble in December.

Disrupt Romo: The Chargers can’t let Dallas quarterback Tony Romo throw the ball all over the field. Romo has been throwing the ball well, and San Diego’s pass defense has been susceptible at times this season. It has to get a pass rush established and make Romo uncomfortable. Romo has to be forced into making mistakes.

Get the ball to Gates: San Diego tight end Antonio Gates is having a superior year. He has caught 15 passes for 285 yards and two touchdowns in the past two games. The perennial Pro Bowl player is on pace to have the best receiving and yardage season of his career. When Gates is rolling, the entire San Diego offense is clicking. He needs to be a factor in this game.
