Rookie left tackle Branden Albert has been ruled out of Sunday's game at Carolina. He has an elbow injury he suffered last Sunday against Denver in the Chiefs' first win of the season. Albert will be replaced by Herb Taylor.

Albert's rookie season has been interrupted by injuries. The No. 15 overall pick from Virginia missed all of the preseason with a foot injury. He came back to start the season at New England and has played well.

Several key players did not practice today. Tight end Antonio Gates (hip), guard Mike Goff (knee), fullback Mike Tolbert (ankle), linebacker Jyles Tucker (hamstring) and defensive tackle Jamal Williams (knee) did not practice. Most of these players are out as a precaution. Running back LaDainian Tomlinson was not on the participation report. He has been dealing with a turf toe injury sine opening day. He has said he feels much improved.

Reserve receiver Darrell Jackson was limited in practice. He is coming back from a calf injury that has kept him out of the past three games.
