Another day, another lost offensive weapon for the Denver Broncos as they limp into a pivotal game against Kansas City on Sunday.
The Denver Post is reporting that starting receiver Eddie Royal will miss the game. He has neck and head injuries. It will be the second game in a row he will sit out. Royal joins Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall and tight end Tony Scheffler on the sidelines.
Both Marshall and Scheffler are being deactivated for the game by coach Josh McDaniels. He has cited accountability issues for the deactivations.
This is a tough spot for McDaniels. The Broncos are in the playoff mix and if the lost offensive firepower costs Denver the game, McDaniels could have a long offseason. Scheffler told the Denver Post that he and some of his teammates are not pleased with his deactivation.
The heat is on Denver and now it will have to play without Royal as well.
