It looks like the Tom Cable watch may go into Friday.
A source close to the situation said that a final decision on Cable’s future as Oakland’s head coach likely would not be made Thursday night. Of course, things can change at a moment’s notice in Oakland.
It was reported by ESPN’s Colleen Dominguez that Cable and Oakland owner Al Davis were set to meet Thursday and possibly into Friday.
If the meeting is going into Friday, as it appears, it could be a sign that Davis is, at least, open to the idea of keeping Cable. It means he is listening to Cable’s case.
It is believed that the future of JaMarcus Russell could be a major part of the conversation. If Cable is willing to give Russell, who Cable benched late in 2009, another chance, perhaps Davis will show interest in keeping Cable.
