Denver running back Correll Buckhalter didn’t practice for the second straight day. He looks to be a long shot to play Sunday against New England.

Buckhalter has a high-ankle sprain and could miss one to two games. He would be replaced by rookie Knowshon Moreno. Safety Brian Dawkins didn’t practice because of knee and shoulder issues for the second straight day. But it is believed he has a better chance of playing than Buckhalter does.

Also in the AFC West:

  • Oakland tight end Zach Miller practiced Thursday and he is expected to play Sunday at the New York Giants.

  • Oakland quarterback JaMarcus Russell denies he was fined, but was coy about whether he missed a meeting. Missing a meeting is worse than getting fined, Mr. Russell.

  • There will be AFL 50th anniversary celebrations in Kansas City and Denver. The Chiefs host Dallas. The Chiefs will wear their old Dallas Texans uniforms. The Broncos and Patriots will also wear throwback uniforms.

  • Denver coach Josh McDaniels is not worried about the threat of snow for Sunday’s game.
